Cutting Diet | Journeyman

Here’s my update from this past week and I have to admit, I was a little afraid to post it. You won’t know this because I’ve deliberately avoided the topic but let’s get in to it. Last week, out of nowhere my girlfriend who is a professional dancer was offered a job in China and flew out yesterday for 4 months. It all happened so quickly and basically meant that everything stopped so that I could go down to her family home for a long weekend. I didn’t train, I didn’t diet (though I did make smart choices), and I did eat out including a few shandys. I don’t intend to justify this as my relationship, simply put, is more important than this thing that I do.

 What’s the damage?

Being honest, I think I would have missed my weight goal of 105kg as I was 105.7 on Friday. As of this morning, my current weight is 106.8kg. I don’t think I’ve spilled over at all but I think because I didn’t train on the weekend, my glycogen stores had a chance to really top out. It was 107.8 and has quickly fallen as I’m training again and have completed a few rounds of cardio this week.

Without looking too much in to things, I’ve adjusted my numbers a little. My training days are now 300c and my rest days are unchanged. I had planned to change my diet format at 12 weeks out from the current carb cycling style to a format that sees me take on relatively low calories with one high re-feed day. I may bring this in at 13 weeks out as I still intend to be competition ready a couple of weeks ahead.

It’s not all negative!

Last Friday before shooting off, I trained with some friends who are also natural bodybuilders. We had a chest session and I loved it because they brought some intensity that brought out the best in me. After we did some posing and went over the mandatory poses. I’ve included a shot below.

Christmas tree coming through…

It should be plain sailing now as far as distractions are concerned so it’s really just down to me following through.

Look out for a mini update following my session with the coach!
